Palma was the venue for the opening European leg of the ISAF World Cup circuit. In a year which holds the Olympic Games, competition is tight, with crews still battling for selection and those crews who have already qualified, desperatley narrowing down their mistakes before the biggest event of the cycle!
So it was nothing short of impressive, that Sam with a new sailing partner in Tim Riley managed to beat of seasoned veterains, and teams who have been together for years, to qualify for the gold fleet after just 8 days in the boat together!
In doing so the boys cemented their postion as the second ranked British Team after the Olympic Silver medalist, Luke Patience.
The following week the boys took on the best in Europe, unfortunatley missing the gold/silver split, they battled well to advance the rankings all through the week, again finishing second British Team.
